I love her energy

And her tenacity

I love the laughter in her voice

And her capacity

For surprising me

Is inexhaustible it seems

And when she runs to me

And when she clings to me

Nowhere on Earth I’d rather be

And sometimes when she sleeps

I steal a kiss from her cheek

It’s the best thing in the world

She makes home, home

Sometimes she makes no sense

Sometimes I lose my patience

We fight and shout

And throw cruel words about

And I feel ashamed

Feel like I’ve failed

But then she turns around and lifts me up again

I love her honesty

Though at times she lacks diplomacy

Sometimes the truth is hard to take

And she’ll put me to the test at times

I’ve learned to know the signs

Just not quite how to handle them

And when her smile wears thin

Though she lacks the strength to keep her feelings in

She is wise and she is brave

And then she says to me

I love you daddy

And I’m just blown away

She makes home, home
